Perfect fit blinds are a fantastic type of made to measure blind. These superb window coverings now only look great but they are also very functional. The reason this particular type of blind looks so good is that the unit itself appears as part of the fixing, i.e a patio door or a set of conservatory windows for instance. The Venetian blinds sit on the window frame and appear to be part of the double glazed window unit.
Perfect fit blinds are an ideal choice for anyone hoping to create an uncluttered look in any room in the modern home. The reason that this made to measure blind is so popular is due to the fact that the housing looks like a complete part to the original window, giving the illusion that the blinds are meant to be part of the window.

Your bathroom has particular needs when it comes to window coverings, and you should take them into account when you are choosing new blinds.
Steam and heat can cause certain materials to deteriorate more quickly. Fabrics can absorb the moisture in steam, and as a result, mildew or mould can start to appear. Wood, too, is vulnerable in these conditions, and can start to flake, buckle or split.
Venetian blinds are the most durable blinds you can choose for your bathroom. Their aluminium slats will not be adversely affected by the steam and heat, and will look good for longer than others. The wide range of colours available makes it an easy job to find blinds that will perfectly complement the colour scheme and decoration of your bathroom.
This type of blind also offers other advantages. The slats can be oriented in order to adjust both the light coming through the window and the extent to which the view is obscured. When the slats are rotated, the blinds can ensure complete privacy, which is an important requirement of bathroom window coverage.
Total privacy does not mean you need to block light, however. The orientation of the slats will still allow natural light into the room, although if you prefer even more, perforated slats will allow you to close the slats and still have light filtering through.

Effective window coverings are essential for any working environment. They provide effective light control which makes the office a more pleasant place to work, and prevent glare from computer screens. They can also help to protect a room from direct sunlight, and help to keep the temperature at a comfortable level.
But which blinds work best in the workplace?
Vertical and Venetian blinds
Vertical and Venetian blinds are probably the best blinds for offices. They provide a high level of light control thanks to the slats which can be oriented. They will let in sufficient natural light while deflecting any direct rays.
The slatted blinds are also durable and easy to maintain. Venetian blinds are made from aluminium slats, which are very simple to clean and will maintain their stylish look for a long time. Vertical slats have the added benefit of attracting and accumulating less dust, making them easier to keep clean.
Roller and Roman blinds
Roller and Roman blinds also offer good window coverage, although they may be less well suited to windows that face the sun. They can be ordered in fabrics that will filter sunlight, although they would need to be lowered completely to enable working in bright sunlight.

Ordering made to measure blinds can be one of the best design choices you make for your home. You have complete freedom to choose between the different types of blinds, depending on the style you are looking for as well as your window covering needs.
With such a wide range of fabrics and colours available, you are sure to find the blinds that will go perfectly with the rest of home’s interior decoration. Having them made to measure will mean that the result will be absolutely beautiful.
As the blinds are made according to your measurements, it is very important that you take great care over the measurements for your blinds. Fitting them yourself will save you money, but do not make matters more complicated by ordering blinds that will not fit!
Firstly, you must decide where the blinds will sit. Blinds can be attached either inside the window recess or outside it. Hanging blinds inside the recess can look neater, although you must ensure that the window handle will not prevent the blinds from hanging straight.
Hanging blinds outside the recess can give the impression of a larger window, although in this case, you must carefully take your measurements to ensure that the blinds are hung centrally. Whichever position you choose, make sure that you check and double-check your measurements before placing your order!

Blinds can prove to be very useful at covering not just windows in the home or the office, but also doors and open cupboards, for example.
French doors
These tall doors are usually floor to ceiling and typically open out onto a garden or terrace. They tend to have fairly large glass panes, making them great for opening the house up, providing light and fantastic views. Blinds are a great way to cover these doors, providing excellent light control and flexibility. When choosing the blinds to go for, think about your use of the door and how it opens. You also need to keep the door handles in mind and choose blinds that will hand flush to the door.
Internal glass doors
Again, these doors can help to increase the a mount of natural light within the home, but there may be times when you need a little more privacy, or you need to block out the light completely. A made to measure roller blinds may be just the ticket in cases such as this. Easy to operate, roller blinds provide an easy and stylish way to cover internal windows.
Open cupboards
Hide messy or unattractive open cupboards using roller blinds. Less bulky and easier to install than a door, roller blinds provide a chic, colourful and highly practical way to keep certain items or areas hidden from view!

If you feel that blinds look a little too contemporary for your design tastes, although you would prefer the superior window coverage that they provide, then it may be worth taking a look at Roman blinds.
Roman blinds offer a softer look than the other types of blinds thanks in part to the way the fabric folds when the blinds are raised. The folds are more reminiscent of the way that curtains look, and the softness they can bring to a room.
There are a multitude of patterns available, many of which would perfectly suit the more traditional or classic approach to home design. From delicate little cherubs to stylised floral patterns, Roman blinds can provide a focal point to any room without being too minimalist or modern.
Roman blinds also offer other advantages:
• They are less bulky than curtains, which can make a small room feel more cluttered
• They are easier to clean than curtains, which can also fade in sunlight
• Blackout Roman blinds provide complete light control, making them a good choice for bedrooms
• Bay windows are completely covered by drawn curtains, whereas Roman blinds still allow the form and beauty of the windows to remain on shown, even when lowered
• Choose fabric that gently filters light through while providing complete privacy for living rooms or conservatories

Bamboo is a very popular material at the moment, for both practical and aesthetic reasons. Bamboo is a sustainable and natural resource, growing to maturity in about three years, which makes it easier to replenish stocks.
It is also a very versatile material, and can be used to make furniture, flooring, and window coverings. Its natural and neutral colour means it can be used to create various looks in interior design, from the utilitarian, to urban contemporary, eco-influenced or zen…
We tend to think of bamboo blinds as being based on the roller blinds design, and yet there is a stylish alternative that combines the benefits of bamboo with another type of blind. Vertical blinds can be made up from bamboo slats, and offer a twist on the usual bamboo blinds.
Vertical slats present many advantages:
• They do not tend to accumulate dust and make for easy cleaning
• Their vertical slats are fantastic at emphasising the height of the room
• They can create the visual illusion of greater space
• The slats can be closed tightly, completely blocking the light and the view
• They can be oriented for excellent light control
• The blinds can also be pulled completely to one side, allowing unbroken views when required

Silver Venetian blinds may not seem like an immediately obvious choice for your home’s interior design, and yet they can add a seriously stylish touch to your decoration.
In terms of design, silver slats can look fantastic when used in conjunction with furniture and furnishings using light wood shades, metal and glass. They can add an urban, chic feel to a room, whether it is a space for living, working or resting.
The idea is to aim for a sleek and contemporary look, so you will need to combine the above materials in such a way as to create a minimalist interior without clutter! If you want to add texture to the look of your blinds, then opt for the perforated slats for a bit of extra interest.
Not only will these blinds look great, but they are a very practical choice for any room in the house. The slats are durable and suitable for use in difficult conditions, such as bathrooms or kitchens.
They also offer excellent light control, which makes them a good choice for home studies or lounges, where it may be important to let light in without causing glare from TV or computer screens.
Privacy, too, is no longer a problem, as the slats can be oriented so as to prevent any prying eyes from seeing inside, without leaving you in the dark! So, if you though silver blinds are for offices only, think again!

When you are choosing blinds for your home, there are certain aspects to take into consideration, so that you choose the blinds best suited to your home.
1. Do you need privacy? All blinds will cover windows and offer privacy, although you can still open them completely for unbroken views.
2. How much light control do you need? If you are looking for complete light exclusion, you will need blinds made from blackout material. Roller blinds, roman blinds and vertical blinds can all be made to completely block out the light. If you need to be able to let light in but control its direction, slatted blinds will offer excellent control. Roman and roller blinds can gently filter light through when closed.
3. What conditions will the blinds be exposed to? Bathrooms and kitchens can be humid and warm, and this will have an effect on fabrics and wooden products. Wooden slats can warp and buckle, while fabric can absorb moisture and become mouldy and dusty. Aluminium venetian blinds and roller blinds are your best bet for rooms such as these.
4. Which style are you aiming for? Think about the size and type of window the blinds will be covering, as well as the overall decorative style of the room. Each type of blind is different in design, and you need to choose the one that will be functional but look great!

New blinds make a great addition to your home, providing stylish and functional window coverings. For those of you with young children, however, you need to be aware of the fact that looped hanging cords or chains could pose a threat of injury to them.
The British Blind and Shutter Association recommends that you inspect the blinds currently in your home, and either ensure that loops are out of children’s reach or fit safety devices to the blinds.
Orion blinds supports this campaign, and recommends the following blinds for those who have small children at home:
• Orion Blind’s Venetian blinds are delivered with a safety cord that is not looped. An un-looped cord will reduce the risk of a child getting tangled or caught on the cord.
• If you are buying vertical blinds and arte worried about the safety of small children in your home, then make sure you order the optional cord tension device, which again, makes the cord much safer.
• Roller blinds are made using a break away chain connector. This ensures that the chain will break when any weight is applied to it.
