Many people combine curtains with blinds in their homes, or just use blinds alone. In order to purchase the perfect blinds for your home you should consider the style, colour and size that will suit your interior best.
Types of Blinds
1. Roman Blinds
Practical and easy to use, Roman blinds are easy to fit and don’t take up much space.
2. Roller Blinds
These blinds are made from durable fabric, which rolls up and down.
3. Vertical Blinds
Vertical blinds suspend from fittings at the top of the window, and feature cords which allow them to slide aside like curtains.
4. Blackout Blinds
Natural light is completely blocked out with these blinds. They are particularly suitable for children’s rooms and they are available in roller blind styles.
Measuring blinds
1. Inside Recess Measuring
Check that your recess is not blocked in any way that would prevent the blind from being lowered properly.
2. Outside Recess Measuring
This may be necessary if the window opens upwards and if the recess is less than 7.5cm (3″) deep. The blind may not roll down properly if the window is not straight.
3. Cutting Down a Readymade Roller Blind
If you need to reduce the width of a roller blind to fit a window then ensure that you measure the outside edge of the bracket with a metal tape. Cut down the length of the fabric using sharp scissors then wind the fabric back onto the tube and put the blind in place as normal.
Blinds are a cost effective way of updating the look of any room.
