Before you buy a set of blinds it is important that you take accurate measurements of the window you are looking to dress. You can save yourself time and expense by getting it right first time. Even if you decide to get the help of professionals, reliable measurements are paramount.

A steel measuring tape will give you the greatest accuracy. You should also jot down any measurements that you have taken along the way to prevent any confusion. When you have all this information, you can determine the placement of the blinds. Blinds can be mounted both inside and outside the window frame. You should make sure the window casing has sufficient depth when mounting blinds internally. Decide in advance the total area that will be covered by the blinds.

Make sure that there are no obstructions in the form of alarms or window handles before installing the blinds. Many blinds require cutting to size and your accurate measurements will come into play when undertaking this task. It is always advisable to overestimate in the first instance, even if it requires more work.

Install window blinds appropriately and enjoy the comfort and style they bring to your home.
